MY WELCOME WORD

First of all, I would like to wish you a very warm welcome on my homepage. You will find here a lot of informations about my new passion that I have really discovered in September 1996: The GENEALOGY.

You surely know this science (because it is really a science) that you go from your parents back to your grand-parents and so on to build a family tree.

This science help us to know more than names, birth, wedding and deaths' date. We learn how our ancestors lived. Doing that kind of search allow us to go back in time to six, eight, ten or more generations, that all depends on how much time we like to spend in this fascinating scientific hobby. In fact, there is never an end to those researches because it is almost impossible to discover all happy or sad events that happened in their lives. Each life is a big novel.

The genealogical research is not always easy to do. Sometimes it is very difficult to find informations that we are looking for. When we are able to discover even a small detail that we were looking for sometimes even for ten years, it is a real joy to make the discovery. Making genealogical research is like making police investigation. More than that, I have to declare you something very important to know: genealogy is addictive.

Come and discover my father family story: Cocks, Ager, Lavoie, Bisson and also my mother family story: Girard, Larrivée, Tremblay, Dion and others. You will also find my prefered links from genealogical or historical websites to others links of general interest.

Also, I have to tell you that I like, beside genealogy, very much to read books about Kings and Queens from any country. I would have like a lot to live back in the seventeen century (among Queen, courtesan, knights, etc. ). All history is fascinating. I also have others different subjects to read about.

Nouvelle-France history is really amazing of discoveries to me. How about courageous people they were to quit their native countries and exile themselves to a new world they didn't know much about. This new world was occupied by American Indians. They are a lot of authors from Quebec that wrote stories about those people. They are really very interesting to read.

Those people that we are talking about are our ancestors. They build a civilisation with very hard labour trying in the same time to protect theirs lives against some indians warriors. I would have a lot to tell you about those tribes. Our ancestors did defy sea storm to join a promising continent. They knew suffering, poverty, hunger, hards winters but they succeed to build a society, their story, the tomorow's world, the world that we are today. We have inherited a lot from them.

Quebec people are very lucky for there genealogical research. We have here in Quebec so much documents and many registrers (births, marriages and deaths) and some others of different level like trade registrer, and a lot from law. Without any of those documents, it would be impossible to rebuild our history. We have also a lot of Genealogical Societies and Historical Societies that we can visit to find more about our roots.

Finally, I have to tell you that I am proud to be Quebecer and proud of my ancestor's history.
