• One of first and well renowned genealogist of French-Canadians is Mgr Cyprien Tanguay. According to the founder of the «Société Généalogique Canadienne Française», Archange Godbout, himself a priest, Mgr Tanguay skip certain facts. Let see what he is saying:
  

• «Mgr Tanguay is slightly tendentious in his dictionary in mentioning only on a few occasions the abjurations, the illegitimate births and the death sentences. The history of Canadian peoples is magnificent, we agree, but in reading Mgr Tanguay, we must ask if it a human history.»

• We owe much to Archange Godbout on the knowledge of the Huguenot origins of many families in New-France. Making his research in La Rochelle he did not limit his research to the Catholic churches but he include the protestant temple.
