- The call for help by England will have a great influence
in the future politics of the King against the Huguenots.
The fall of La Rochelle mark the end of the political
strength of the protestants. Under the reign of Louis the
fourteen, their privileges will constantly diminish and
in 1685, the king after many oppressive measures will
revoke the Edict of Nantes. That will result in a massive
emigration of Huguenots all around the world. Many will
fled to England and Holland and finally will settled in
the British colonies of North America. This emigration
will greatly affect the French economy and will play a
role in the fact that France will in the future loose
many of his colonies including New-France. The conditions
leading to the French revolution will be in place.
