History and Genealogy of the Busque, Carey, Cary, Carie and Bearce Family

By Maurice Busque

"It all started with a shipwreck. On November 16, 1718, driven by strong winds, the ship La Providence grounds on the Cap Corbeau reef, facing Île aux Coudres, one kilometer east of Baie-Saint-Paul. Jean Busque, Master Carpenter, tangled in a lenghty trial, was unable to return to France. He married and before we lost track of him, he gave a son to his new country. This son, also named Jean, grew up in Quebec City, settled in Beauce, which was newly opened to colonization and thus founded the Busque family of America."

The book History and Genealogy of the Busque, Carey, Cary, Carie and Bearce Family narrates the comings and goings, the marriages, births and deaths of Jean Busque's descendants. It also tells of certain elements of the historical context which pace the life of his descendants in Canada and North America, including 560 families, over 11 generations to this day. Enriched with the gathered testimonies, it bring us to the daily life of their contemporaries. We also find information on evolution and name change of many families who emigrated to the United States, particularly to Maine and Connecticut. We learn about the context of the unfolding of the family in Canada, United-States and around the world for the past three centuries.

The History and Genealogy of the Busque, Carey, Cary, Carie and Bearce Family is the outcome of many years of research by Maurice Busque on the family history since Jean Busque's arrival in Quebec City in 1718. It also explains the historical context which brought him to settle in Quebec City, his son's settling in Beauce and the Busque families who left Beauce for other Quebec regions, other canadian provinces and for the United-States.

The research and collaboration of certain families have enabled us to present over 30 tales, specifically pertinent to certain family members.
