This module is inspired from a circuit published in a 1992 CCI TECH TIP. It is a battery-backed DC power supply with it's own trickle charger for gell-cell batteries. I modified the original design to add a constant current source for charging and a constant voltage source to trickle-charge the battery afterwards.
It is capable of supplying
3A at 14VDC to the HCS modules when AC power is present. A gell-cell battery
automatically switches in when AC fails. The circuit can accommodate
batteries of various capacities.
