MY  TRIBUTE  TO

Cacius

March 1995 to July 2003

Cacius Clay Mates
(Registered Name:  Lynbary's Dynamo Humm)

Cacius was born in Ormstown, Quebec, March 1995, at Lynbary's Boxers (http://www.rocler.qc.ca/bgreen/).  His mother was CH. Cachet's Garnet of Turo, and his father was Am/Cdn CH. Cachet's High River Gambler.  He had dual citizenship, registered in both Canada and USA.  His grandmother, CH. Turo's Cachet, was described as "The Perfect Boxer", and was once offered to be purchased for $75,000, which was refused.  Cacius came from regal lines, yet remained unpretentious.   He didn't know that he had descended from royalty.  He just knew that he was a very well loved member of my family.

Cacius was very smart and eager to please.  He learned to SIT on the same day I brought him home from the breeder.  By the end of the first week that I had him, he had DOWN and STAND.  By 6 months old, he had all the standard commands, plus a pile of extra commands.  He would walk backwards, do a STAY in any position that I put him into.  At around 3 years old, I documented his commands and all the words that he knew, which included both verbal commands and hand signals.  They totaled over 60 commands.  Cacius also came with a bunch of built-in commands which often shocked me when he revealed them to us.  Although I never taught him to never leave the property, the first time he was chasing a ball on my front lawn and the ball went on the street, he amazingly stopped one foot from the curb and sadly watched it roll down the street, waiting for me to go get it for him.

This photo shows what a beautiful looking dog he was and how much he was willing to please me.  I asked him to get up on this log, then positioned his legs, and told him to STAY.  He was on this log for a couple minutes, posing for one of many photos that I took of him.  He never complained about doing all these things for me, just being happy to be outdoors and getting the attention he loved.

Even up to the end up his life, Cacius loved his toys.  Cacius received many Christmas presents each year, which he would open himself.  He loved a good Tug-Of-War with his rope, loved to catch his Frisbees and had at least a dozen stuffed animals.  He loved to keep squirrels and cats off his property and enjoyed chasing the rabbits in the field near my house where he was walked.  He loved to chase the ducks in the stream at my parents' trailer.  He had many dog friends, including his best friend and cousin CHANDLER BING.

And he had his own cat, KATIE KAT, which he received for his 3rd birthday.  At first he wanted to eat her but after a little while, he became her big brother and playmate.  I know Katie misses him too....

He died on Monday, July 12th, 2003, when, sadly, we had to put him down after a brief illness due to advanced liver disease.  It was the hardest day of my life.  Many tears were cried in my family.....

He was loved by many, and will be dearly missed,   Always....

A Thought For The Day

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through
no fault of yours, something goes wrong,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can face the world without lies and deceit,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

...Then You Are Probably The Family Dog!
