DEATH: Mort gelé
BIOGRAPHY: Avait déjà épousée Gilles Enard le 6 octobre 1665
BIOGRAPHY: On Feb 8 1664, a Friday, M. Henry de Bernieres, while performing some of the functions of parish priest in Notre-Dame-de-Quebec church, drew attention of the Counseil that despite having already received and published the banns of marriage for the first ime for Pierrre Martin, he was of the opinion that the said Martin was having epileptic seizures and that he felt that he should advise the appropiate officials before continuing. He felt that they should look into the problem to determine if it was perhaps wiser to return people with similar problems to France because of the great dangers from the waters and snows and fires which they all continually faced in this new nation. Also, any such illnesses could not be handled by the hospitals and so it was very difficult to protect these people in the new nation. Although this particular case was not an empechement ecclesiastique (for a specific religious reason}, he had delayed further publication of the banns until the Counsil could take actions on his concerns. martin had spent some time with Jean & Francois Pelletier, and Francois had stated that Martin had-even on the night before-had another epileptic seizure, and that it was-to his knowledge-the fifth time. Martin in turn stated that he had no such knowledge of that event and could remember nothing (not an unusual reaction to epileptics) of those supposed events.
BIOGRAPHY: In response to the above, the Counsil Souverain permitted said Pierre Martin to marry in this country (Canada) if that is what he wished to do, but ordered that he and his wife would be obliged to return to France for the aove stated reason if he were to have another seizure. He raised six children in Canada
