Congratulations to all our volunteers

With your love for children, your desire for community self-aid, and your dedication, many children have experienced a moment of joy in their ordeal.

Congradualtions to all!

Due to the teamwork of its volunteers, the chapter of Project Linus of Saint-Eustache offers its 5,026 th blanket in May 2011.

What's Project Linus?

A group of caring individuals

It is a group of caring individuals from USA, England, Australia, Mexico, Japan and Canada. The group expands everyday. It makes dark days brighter for children in difficult situations. Up to now, Project Linus has delivered many handmade security blankets to facilities and chidren around the world.

who offer comfort to sick children.

The goal of Project Linus is to provide a blanket of security to children facing substantial distress in their lives. Although originally focused on cancer patients, PL has expanded its focus to include any seriously ill or traumatized child. The list of recipients grows daily.

Other organizations are helping the chapter of Project Linus of Saint-Eustache in the distribution of blankets to sick children. These are the two main ones.

La Fondation Canadienne Rêves d'Enfants (Division Québec Est et Ouest)

L'Ronald McDonald House Charities (Montréal)

How to help

You can contribute to Project Linus by making handmade, washable security blankets using new material. These may be knitted, crocheted, quilted, woven. Whatever, but they are washable, durable and new. In order to meet the needs, we encourage volunteers try to mainly make blankets 40" x 60". However, they do make different sizes (see sizes below).

Sizes for blankets:

For preemie baby : 64 cm x 64 cm (25" x 25")

Newborn baby (0-3 yrs) : 64 cm x 76 cm (25" x 30")

Toddler (3-6 yrs) : 76 cm x 92 cm (30" x 36")

Child (6-12 yrs) : 92 cm x 114 cm (36" x 45")

Teenager (12-18 yrs) : 102 cm x 152 cm (40" x 60")

Volunteers show imagination in making quilt tops. They use any pattern.

Volunteers use all kinds of donations: yarn, quilting fabric, quilt batts, crochet hooks, knitting needles, quilting supplies, etc.

In addition, chapter's volunteers use donated postage stamps, envelopes, stationery, mailing labels, and other office supplies, as well as other services such as copying and printing. These are used to promote and develop the project.

Volunteers are doing an excellent job. They get others involved (church groups, schools, senior centers, craft guilds, and craft shops). To do so, they post flyers in lunchrooms, community center notice boards, office, wherever! Sometimes, they send them to those who have requested one.

Volunteers are abundant in ideas. They organise supplies drive. These are great projects for a school, church group or guiding or scout troop.

Volunteers run errands for Project Linus such as writing thank you notes.

The Project Linus Quebec team's efforts are rewarded by the comfort of ill children through those beautiful blankets.

Thank you to all!
