Once again, here is a review of one of Playboy's computer programs.

All reviews are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest) under three categories - Quality, Action/Interaction, and Erotic appeal.

And now with no further ado...

The Women of Playboy Multimedia Screen Saver (Sony Imagesoft, $29.95)

Playboy's first foray into software hit gold with this screen saver program! True to it's title, this IS a multimedia program, complete with Quicktime clips, sound files, and literally HUNDREDS of images from the world of Playboy for you to pick and choose. Everything from playmates to classic art work to the covers of past Playboy magazines to pictures of it's famous (and currently defunct) Playboy Club Bunnies.

Playboy has even set up the images and movies into certain themes, such as "Wet and Wild," "Sexy Lingerie," "Girl Next Door," "Bathing Beauties," and Playmates from the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. But if you get bored with those options you can make up your own themes.

And it's not just a screen saver. This program also has a multimedia clock that allows you to see either images or movies, as well as a wallpaper maker that will convert Playboy images into a background wallpaper for your desktop.

The GOOD news is that the PC version was designed for Windows 3.1, and is also quite compatible with Windows 95. In fact, you can even access the program through the Screen Saver part of the Display options. The BAD news is that you cannot import other images (such as BMP, JPEG, or GIF files) from other sources to be used with the Playboy images. You're only limited to what the CD-ROM has to offer. Although the pictures aren't in JPEG, GIF, BMP, or other graphic formats, you can import them into word processing programs such as Microsoft's Word for Windows 95 like any other picture. (You can also convert them into those formats if you know how to use a certain secret in Windows 95.) Another fair warning is that unless you have tons of space on your hard drive to spare (i.e. 200MB or more) you're going to have to rely on the CD-ROM for most of the images and movies. The Quicktime clips alone run about 15-20MB a piece. So if you're pressed for space I strongly suggest relying on simple images.

Overall, though, this is a good program to have for your home computer.
