This picture was taken in early Sept 2001, upon their ride up and back in less than one week from Goose-bay, Labrador,  including the mandatory 1600 km of dirt roads. It appears however, that their season of trying to get in trouble was not over yet for this year. So, in mid-Nov. ,they left for the Baja California peninsula in Mexico in order to see how much more trouble, they could get into, before they were forced to put their trusted and much abused R 1100 GS away, for their  very well deserved winter break.  (I am talking about the GS here, not the clowns).

Simple, we were told that we just looked a tad too happy in some of the photos from our  last adventure, (picture above). So we thought that Pete's wife (Charlotte) and  my girlfriend (Natacha)  might appreciate a little more sadness on our part. We don't want them to think we're having too much fun when we are away from them…right…? Don't forget, when they hear us tell all about our long tales when we return, we make it sound as though we were  having such a hard time out there in adventureland, and they would not have enjoyed  one moment of it…Sure they say …So, this is what this picture was for…Would it fool you …? I think we may have to work on those expressions a little more yet.: (we only  hope they will appreciate the effort involved in looking this bad after  a full 3 weeks of practice) next, we are showing 4 essential items required before you venture into Baja: 1- agua, water purified of course. 2- extra gas even with a 400 km range , you can never assume that gas will be available where you think it will ,on the back roads. 3- imodium ,  and pray you won't need it.  4- a comfortable folding kermitt chair, for the 12 hours of darkness  every night (sun sets around  5 pm,  rises at about 6 am)

WONDERING WHY WE  LOOK SO SAD ?....
Two 54 year old Canadians, who have not grown up... yet...
is there still hope for them...? Read on and decide... good luck.
