Have you guessed what Lavamatica means ? That's right : Laundromat.! Well on that cold rainy day, even though we were only a few miles from our final destination, which was to be Ensenada, I had to stop to dry my Jacket and top layer of clothes as I had started to shiver badly to keep warm. No ! we did not bring our rain suits... (check ! the piss poor excuse coming up) Based upon the 1 1/2" only of rain a year Baja gets. Well guess what... This year we happenned to be there on that very day, December 3rd our 17th in Baja. Will we have rain gear the next time ? you bet...! |
First, it washed down our bikes... and as all serious GS owners will tell you (whether you want to hear it or not), they're convinced, from all the years of riding them that way, that their
GS actually seem to run happier, when they have a good coat of dirt
on them... Besides, it might give the GS a major bad habit. Wanting
to get washed on a more regular basis, than only, when you absolutely
have to. Like when you want to bring your wife on a ride and she refuses
to get on, until you wash it dow. ( Are we the only one in the whole world, living these life threatening GS problems
? ) Now, how can you remedy problem # 1? Easy... Ride through the next
available puddle at full speed. However, this brings up major problem # 2,
the earth in Baja being so thirsty all year around, it swallows all water, as
soon as it hits the ground, so puddles are hard to find... |
The rain caused two other major problems... |
