The militares and their check points are everywhere in Baja

We probably went through one check point a day,  sometimes twice  except  when we were on very remote roads, but  even threre, they were sometimes present.

They are looking for guns and drugs, they carry machine guns at the ready, and they have brand new Hummers. , The locals say that the US  D.E.A.. is behind all of this and that Uncle Sam is paying for the Hummers etc. We only had to open one bag once. Pete was doing most of the talking and gesticulating to these young soldiers, who were bored,, specially on remote back roads and were basically  much more interested in talking about our bikes, like what size engine etc . Sorry but  we can't tell all of you, our secret for going through so easily.  Our Aussie friends had to open their bags all the time, not us.. . na...! na-na-na...na...!
