See what you can pick up in Baja, ex : This straggling genuine Harley rider, Juan, from San Diego area, probably doing some development work for the Harley factory (Mind you he never said so...we just kind of guessed) on the skinny 21" front wheel, trying hard to hold up 1/2 of his bike, and also having the 2nd job of trying to guide him around the potholes !!!. (Never before did we ever see a Harley loaded this way. Hey ! self sufficient, 5 days of provision, even cooking equipment this guy had it all) The result of his findings ( no shit..what a surprise.!.), is clearly that 21" chopper wheels should not be allowed in Baja, according to Juan. We can only agree. II guess he managed to sneak in with all the chrome blinding the Mexican border officials. Well we're glad he did cause we travelled the paved Mex 1 North from Catavina to San Quentin one, afternoon with him, where we shared this motel and on to Ensenada the next day (this photo ) in the rain. The only rain of the whole trip.We are told it happens in december on the Pacific side. |
Juan you're an "A" OK DUDE in our book, even if your choice of bike for the job at
hand sucks, but man did you ever look cool when riding through towns...towns,
what towns ? oh ! what you meant Duc, was, would have looked cool... Just kidding Juan, truth is that now that we were back on asphalt, for the
final days in Baja, we were probably just jealous of your ride,. a Deuce 2000 1450cc , badly in need of a clean up for sure. |
Here above,it's the Harley dealer in me talking, even on vacation... when disguised
as a GS rider...I can't hide my true nature that well... |
