STORAGE FOLDER OPTIONS

This option group allows you to customize the folder naming convention used for celebrity folder creation.

Last Name First - By default AutoSort uses First Name First to create folders.  Selecting this check box will cause AutoSort to use Last Name First instead.  For example "Crawford, Cindy" instead of "Cindy Crawford"

Use Alphabetized Sub-Folders - This options determines weather or not to further sort the celebrity in alphabetical folders. (A-Z)  For efficiency reasons, it is recommended that you use this option.  MS Windows can be very slow at handling folders, using this option effectively breaks down your collection into 26 sub-folders, making it easier to find any given celebrity.  This also makes MS Windows more efficient.

Use Underscores - This option causes AutoSort to use underscores instead of spaces in folder names.  While using underscores reduces readability of the folder names, it makes them internet friendly, should you want to make your file collection available On-Line.

Example - This just shows you the folder format that you have selected.

Convert Existing Folders To These Settings - This is a tool to convert your existing collection folders to the newly selected format.  Since MS Windows is very slow at moving and renaming folders, this operation can take a lot of time to complete if you have thousands of celebrity folders.  Read carefully the notice that will popup before proceeding.

FILE MOVING/COPYING OPTIONS

This option group allows you to define AutoSort's behaviour for special cases while moving/copying files.

On filename collision: - While moving/copying files, it is likely that some file name collisions will occur.  For example, you've identified "CCRAW1.JPG" as Cindy Crawford but a file with the same name already exists in your "Cindy Crawford" folder.

In this case AutoSort will compare the source and destination files to determine if the files are truely identical.  It does this by comparing the two files byte for byte.  If the files are found to be true duplicates, then AutoSort will automatically keep the file that's already in your collection, and delete the file that you're sorting.  There's no point keeping a file that you already have.

This option is only used if the same name files are determined to be non-identical.  The option may have three possible settings:

1. Ask what to do  - AutoSort will prompt the user with a file information and comparison window which allows him to determine the proper action to take on a case by case basis.  This is the recommended option.

2. Always Replace destination - AutoSort will always overwrite the destination with the same name file without prompting the user, this option is not recommended.

3. Skip file - AutoSort skips the move/copy operation for those files, leaving them unsorted.

4. Auto-Rename source - AutoSort renames the source file by adding "_#" just before the file extention.  The "#" stands for 'number'.

5. Always delete source - AutoSort keeps the file that's already in your collection and deletes the source file.  This option is not recommanded.

On file with multiple identification - This is usefull for files that may relate to or contain more than one celebrity.  For example you could have identified a picture as both "Kathy Ireland" and "Stephanie Seymour" because they posed together on the same picture.

This option only applies to files that have more than one check marks and may have any of three values:

1. Ask what to do  - AutoSort will ask the user weather it should skip the file or copy it to all selected celebrity folders.

2. Copy/Move file to multiple folders  - AutoSort copies the file to all selected (checked) celebrity folders before deleting the source file without prompting the user.  This means that the file will be duplicated as required to ensure that every selected celebrity has a copy of this file in it's folder.

3. Skip Move/Copy - The file is skipped without prompting the user.  In other words, files with multiple identifications are left unsorted and remain visible in the main window after the move/copy operation so the user can have another look at them before making a final decision.

Create "_CelebNotes.txt" file in output folder - When this option is set, AutoSort creates a text file in each celebrity destination folder.  The file contains most of the information pulled from the celebrity editor .  It's purpose is to provide quick reference information about a celebrity while browsing through your collection without having to run AutoSort.

DISPLAY OPTIONS

This option group allows you to customize the appearance of the tree view in the main window and the information it contains.

Show section file count - Displays the number of files contained within a section in the main window, this only affects the three main sections: Matched, Unmatched and Rejected files.

Show series file count - Displays the number of files contained in a series.

Show full path name - Displays the full path name instead of just the file name.  IE "C:\My Documents\CCRAW1.jpg" instead of just "CCRAW1.jpg".

Show algorithm ID - Displays the identification number of the algorithm that returned a suggested celebrity.  This is of little use to most people, primarily used for reporting problems, should and algorithm produce too many undesired suggestions or somehow malfunctioned.

Limit matches to X names - Sets the maximum number of suggestions AutoSort will produce for any given file.  This is usefull if you find that AutoSort makes too many useless suggestions.  This could however cause the right suggestion not to be shown.  A setting of zero means that AutoSort will suggest everything it can.

FILE DELETION OPTIONS

These options are used to turn off file deletion confirmation.  In AutoSort, file may be deleted with the 'Delete' key or via the appropriate popup menus.
