AutoSort V1.5 (May 20, 2001)
-
+ Added filename collision handling window that pops up during
Move/Copy operation to allow collisions to be handled manually for each
file, a "Do ALL Files" is also available.
-
+ Added Auto-Rename file on collision in the Options.
-
~ Re-worded the options "Overwrite non-identical
destination" and "Allow Duplicate Creation" and their
associated settings so they better reflect what they are used for and
what they really do.
-
+ Added a "Delete Files" to the 'Series' popup
menu. This allows deletion of *all* files contained within a
series.
-
+ Added options to turn off file deletion confirmation for both
individual files and series of files.
-
+ Added keyboard shortcuts for the popup menu
options "Delete File(s)...", "Repeat
Selections(s)", "Identify As..." and "New Celeb From...
".
- + Added "Search On IMDb..." to the celeb record editor and to the celebrity popup menu
in the main window. IMDb stands for "The Internet Movie Database" and is
one of the most widely recognized source of information about actors and
actresses on the Net.
-
+ Added a quick access to the 10 most recently used folders in the "Identify Files..." and "Move/Copy
Marked Files..." windows. The folder history is available by
clicking the down arrow at the end of the folder input box.
-
! Fixed a problem where using "Identify As..." or
"New Celeb From..." would replace any valid
identifications made prior to using those features. Now, only the
celebrity suggestions with *no* check marks get cleaned up.
AutoSort V1.4 Rev 1 (January 28, 2001)
-
! Fixed bug under Windows Me: AutoSort had problems locating files
such as "ExcludeKeywords.wri" and "User.cdb", this also caused the
[Database]->[Send in "User.cdb"] menu item to become grey
(unavailable). AutoSort used to open/save files to/from the current
application folder, for some reson this fails under Windows Me. The
problem was worked around by always specifying fully qualified paths to the
files.
-
! Fix a bug that caused celebrity names with capital letters in the
middle not to get identified properly. Example names: "DelBargo",
"DelMonte", "LaRue", ...
AutoSort V1.4 (January 22, 2001) - Changes since V1.3
-
+ User
celebrities now have "[User]" appended to the celebrity name in the main window and the celebrity
finder window.
-
+ Alias entries displayed in the main window and
the celebrity finder window now show the storage folder as usual, plus
the combined name parts. This is useful when you wonder why
"AdrianaSklenarikova" gets identified as 'Adriana Karembeu'. Now it gets
displayed as "Adriana Sklenarikova (Adriana Karembeu)"
-
~ No Auto-Select flag suggestions in the celebrity editor
have been completely re-written, users should now rely on the suggestions
offered.
-
+ When merging a database update with the User.cdb, the
celebrity comparison window now highlights the differences
between the distributed and user celebs.
-
+ Added some filtering options at the top of the database
editor.
- + Files are now displayed with their *real* file icons in the
main window.
- + Optimized file pre-processor, fair amount
faster.
- + Added an identification algorithm that uses Metaphones
(sounds like...) to spot
misspelled celebs in file names.
-
+ Added an option to create text files that contain the celeb's
info in output folders during the file move/copy
operation.
- + Added [Perform phonetic
Search] option to the celebrity finder window. This allows you to find celebrities even if you don't spell the name quite
right.
- ! [Repeat
selections...] now copies matches to sibling files as required. This was
an issue when you manually identified an individual file and wanted to repeat the selection the the remainder of the
file series.
-
! Database editing now disabled when running multiple
instances of AutoSort. This could lead to conflicts if the
user database was edited from different instances. Now
only the first instance of AutoSort can edit and or save
the User.cdb file.
-
* Fixed bug while running under Windows ME, AutoSort would
save the User.cdb file in the "Temporary Internet Files"
folder. Reason unknown, worked around the problem by
specifying fully qualified path instead of saving in the
default application folder.
-
* Fixed major bug: If your identified files from a folder
and selected 'Move files...' into the same folder(as if you tried to sort
some already sorted files to the same folder), all positively identified files
would get permanently deleted during the 'Move/Copy' operation if the 'Move'
option was set.
-
! The [Auto Delete] feature now works. Oups, omission from my
part...
-
+ Added a warning about the [Auto Delete] feature in the celebrity
editor to tell the user about the purpose of this feature and to confirm
his intent.
-
! When adding a new celebrity to the database via the 'Series' name, the
'series file count' no longer gets passed as part of the default text that is
used to create the new entry.
-
! The file counts displayed on sections and series now update themselfes
after a file move/copy operation.
-
+ Added an option to turn off the Auto-Selection of positively identified
files(red check mark) after the initial identification. The option
was added to the window where you select the folder to scan for
identification.
-
+ Added program Icon
-
+ Added a few keyboard shortcuts for the main window menu

and user db info

entries in"User.cdb"

program.
- ~ Improved and fixed several little problems with database
editing.
- ! The database editor no longer tracks useless changes made
to the database
ie: when you edit a celeb and don't
change anything and then hit OK.
-
~ When attempting to add a celeb that already exists, the
Duplicate celeb message box now shows more useful info.
The already existing celeb also gets hi-lighted in the
database editor.

editor.
-

user now has the option to keep or discard an entry in his
"User.cdb" when a similar entry is present in the
distributed database.
-
+ Added a progress meter while User.cdb loads, can be a
lengthy operation if you've made several hundred
modifications.
-
* Fixed a problem where the program would tell you that the
selected folder did not exist when in fact it did. Could
also cause the program to hang.
-
! Fixed folder parsing routines, those could fail if a drive
path like "C:" was used or if an extra trailing backslash
was used un-necessarily.
