Medical aspect :

• We are seeing a fine specialist, Dr Jeffrey Kopelson who is overseeing Guillaume's participation in an experimental medical treatment based on secretine injections and food allergy research. Unfortunatly, the Dr Kopelson is practicing medecine in USA. That means that no insurance or govermental programs are covering the cost of sutch treatments. Also, the american healt system face so many law suits that any medical treatment and all the medications are costing up to 900% more than in Canada. Add to that a very discouraging exchange rate for our canadian dollar and you will have a very high cost for sutch treatments. This is why we are desperatly seeking for a doctor or a researcher living in Quebec to contact us if he is ever interrested in doing some research on this project. Some small token budgets were anounced recently by the Ministery of health, but just looking at the budget envelope anounced means that this research will be minimal. More promising delvelopement will probably come from Toronto where this problem seems to have gathered more attention than here. 


Therapy aspect :
 

• A very specialized psychologist that has been associated with the Ivar Lovaas Therapy in the U.S. and has brought back that knowledge to Quebec. She is supervising the therapy and is also giving the right information to the educator. 
• A specialized educator that works with Guillaume almost everyday for a few hours each time. She helps him learn how to speak, write, draw and just about any aspect of normal daily functions.
