Guillaume is a little boy born in
april of 1990. He is the son of Martin Légaré and Céline
Gravel. He is a joyful and intelligent young boy. Unfortunately he must
face a very difficult task, he is autistic . His parents noticed very early
that something was wrong because Guillaume was reacting a little differently
than the other children. As early as two years old, he already seen a bunch
of specialists at the St Justine's hospital. At this age, Guillaume wasn't
pronouncing a word and even today, he must work constantly to have enough
vocabulary to function correctly. This lack of communication makes him
lose ground a little more each day and that makes us wonder if he will
ever be able to catch-up with the others...
Unfortunately, Government's help
has been reduced to virtually nothing except a very little monetary support
which is totally inappropriate to sustain the regular therapy he desperately
needs. There is a government subsidized agency for autism, but their budget
is so narrow, all they can provide is information about what is happening
in research... elsewhere !
The federation folks are good folks and are doing what they can,
but we rapidly understood that if we want to help our son, we have to take
the matter into our own hands ! |
