ARIES (March 21-April 19)

PERSONALITY: All systems are go for the fiery Aries ram, and damn the torpedoes -- your sign is known for being adventurous and optimistic and sometimes reckless. Your fiery sign rules beginnings, personality, and influence.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're energetic, you're brave, and you keep things simple.

THE MYTH OF ARIES: The legend of the Golden Fleece encompasses many of the great characters from Greek mythology, including Jason and the Argonauts (not to mention Medea). Aries, the offspring of the sea-god Poseidon, was the ram that became the Golden Fleece.

YOUR SIGN: The Ram You might have a growing interest in a friends boyfriend/girlfriend. Be open with your friend about this. Don't "steal" him/her away, but it's okay to express your interest. She/he is no one's property!

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

PERSONALITY: Refined, patient and affectionate, Taurus likes food, art, fashion and the nice things in life (like cold hard cash!). Your earthy sign rules growth, acquisitions and material wealth.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're elegant, you're artistic, and you're practical.

THE MYTH OF TAURUS: Many bulls appear throughout mythology as part of spring festivals, or in stories of possessive Gods. In Greek mythology, the best-known legend is that of the beautiful Europa, kidnapped by Zeus when he took (for nefarious purposes) the form of a bull.

YOUR SIGN: The Bull Virgos and Capricorns make great companions for you. You might feel used by a Libra--and it might be a justifiable feeling. Watch your back. Be a leader, instead of the faithful follower you usually are. Now is the time for changes.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

PERSONALITY: The sign of the twins mean twice the fun. Gemini is talkative, restless, quick-witted, and occasionally flighty. Your airy sign rules understanding and communication.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're quick-witted, you're playful, and you're never dull.

THE MYTH OF GEMINI: The twins in question are Castor and Pollux, half-brothers by Leda. Pollux was the son of Zeus and therefore immortal, but Castor was mortal. When (in the course of the usual adventures) Castor was killed, Pollux was so distraught that Zeus granted the twins immortality for half of each year.

YOUR SIGN: The Twins A certain Sag needs your companionship, friendship, and acceptance. You have been looking for a guy/girl who can appreciate you for who you are, but you might have already found him/her. A younger girl/guy might have a growing interest in you. Don't dismiss him/her so easily. Look past his/her age.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

PERSONALITY: Hard crunchy outside, soft mooshy inside -- the protective sign of the Crab cares about food, home and history. Your water-oriented sign rules family concerns and emotional energy.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're creative, you're loyal, and you're got fabulous taste.

THE MYTH OF CANCER: One of Hercules' 12 labours was the slaying of the multi-headed Hydra. He managed, but during the battle Hera, the goddess who had created the Hydra, sent a giant crab to attack Hercules. It did just fine until he stepped on it and crushed it, which is why some of these myths aren't so popular these days.

YOUR SIGN: The Crab Being a Cancer doesn't make you crabby! The Crab is a symbol of protection. You might seem very defensive, but that's because if any one breaks through your shell they can hurt you easily. Don't be so hard on others, Virgo and Taurus in particular. They are the best companions for you. Capricorns and Libras are the two most potential dangers to your soft inside.

LEO (July 23-Aug 22)

PERSONALITY: Leo's proud lions love being the center of attention. They're generous and fun-loving, but bossy when they have to be. Your fiery sign rules physical accomplishment and activities in the public sphere.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're flamboyant, you're generous, and you're one heck of a host.

THE MYTH OF LEO: The lion was the subject of the first of Hercules's twelve labours. Its pelt was so tough no weapon could penetrate it; Hercules ended up strangling it and skinning it with its own claws. Ow.

YOUR SIGN: The Lion Let someone else be the center of attention, but don't be left out of the picture. Spend time with young children. You'll love the fiery personalities of Aries and Sags.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sept 22)

PERSONALITY: Logical and meticulous and modest, Virgos are among the more subtle signs of the zodiac. Your earthy sign rules cleverness, competence, and expectation.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're meticulous, you're fair-minded, and you're practical.

THE MYTH OF LEO: Most of the myths surrounding this sign portray the Virgin as having left Earth (alive or dead) from grief over injustice or a murder. Some myths portray her as the goddess of grain and the harvest.

YOUR SIGN: The Virgin Cancer and Scorpio are your best friends and mates. Keep an eye open for a Sag to develop an interest in you. The stars recommend you stay away from Sags, Gems, and Pisces-- I say to Hell with the stars! You will worry about your family, particularly the of the male gender, but everything will turn out okay.

LIBRA

THE MYTH OF LIBRA: No particular myth is associated with the Scales, but the image of the scales is almost always connected with the idea of judgment of a person's soul after death.

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21)

PERSONALITY: Happy and active, intellectual and just a little clumsy, Sagittarians are a fiery, lively breed. You tend to have the zodiac's strongest opinions -- but you deliver them with charm. Your fiery sign rules higher education, cultural pursuits, and all kinds of individual growth.

CAPRICORN (Dec 22-Jan 19)

PERSONALITY: Responsible, earthy and serious, Capricorn's goats are the Big Daddy of the zodiac. Pessimistic but patient, reserved but humourous, your earthy sign rules maturity, rules, and regulations.

THE MYTH OF CAPRICORN: Myths surrounding this sign are few. It's believed that the original inspiration was the god Pan, who gave his name to unexplainable or excessive fear -- "panic."

AQUARIUS (Jan 20-Feb 18)

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU: You're idealistic, you're unpredictable, and you're friendly.

THE MYTH OF AQUARIUS: The most common myth of Aquarius is that of Ganymede, a beautiful boy kidnapped by Zeus. Ganymede became Zeus's cup-bearer and wine-pourer; he's also credited sometimes with bringing rain to the earth.

PISCES (Feb 19-Mar 20)

PERSONALITY: Dreamers and visionaries and gifters share the sign of the fishes. Flexible and spiritual, your water-oriented sign rules the subconscious, emotional ideals, and mysteries.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE YOU You're compassionate, you're imaginative, and you give one hell of a foot massage (Pisces rules the feet!).

THE MYTH OF PISCES: The two fishes in the sign of Pisces are alleged to be Venus, the goddess of love, and Cupid her son. They transformed themselves into fish one day to escape being captured by the horrible monster Typhon (creator of, yes, the typhoon).

YOUR SIGN: The Fish Tars and Caps will be great companions, as usual. A Sag might hurt you, but keep in mind that Sags have big mouths sometimes. A Virgo might ignore you, but don't be dismayed! It's his/her loss!
