Gravis Gamepad Pro Unofficial tech page_Home.gif - 15907 Bytes

Here is my technical page I made for the Gravis Gamepad Pro. I targeted this page for emulators users, but the tips shown in here apply to everything else. Please note that I have no affiliation whatsoever with Gravis and therefore am not responsible for any problems or errors you might face. If you want real tech support, I suggest you go to Gravis.

Please note that all the informations noted here CANNOT be applied to the original Gravis gamepad, since it is non-programable.

What's new

Here are the technical facts!

The Gravis Gamepad Pro IS NOT a native 10 Buttons Controller. So, you cannot use your pad in any games that support 6 or 8 buttons. In fact, when using the GGP in GAMEPAD Mode (the switch under the pad set to one), the GGP has only 4 BUTTONS. Remember, if you want to use the GGP in gamepad mode, you have to change the switch under the pad to 1, else it is gonna screw-up the joystick routine.

To use GGP Ten buttons you HAVE TO have a GRIP Compatible game. Fact is, only a minority of dos programs do support Grip. And even less emulators. All emus from Bloodlust are supposed to, but for the rest, we are out of luck

Yes, you still can use your pad with any programs. With the proper programs (GripKey, Gkload, SnesKey), you can unleash the full power of your pad's 10 buttons. My goal with this site is to show you how.

What the hell is Keyboard Passtrough and why should I care?
Since your pad wont work in most dos emu, you will need a program to enable the pad's movements and buttons presses to be read as keyboard command. For instance, you would press the Start button on your GGP and it could register the letter a at the dos prompt.
If you program the pad with the right keys for your emulator, your pad will act as real joypad would, plus enabling you to do away with keyboard commands, because every things would be programed on the pad. Just click on the links at the bottom to choose what program you want to use.
