This picture was taken from the Captain Cook Monument in Corner Brook. There is a great view from up there. You can see the downtown and Humber Heights areas (which is what you are looking at now). Off the right side of the picture is the Elizebeth Street, and Massy Drive. To the left is the North Shore, and behind is Curling and the South Shore. You can pretty much see all of Corner Brook from up there.

This is Shawano when she was about a month old. She is in our back yard surveying her territory. The yard ends where she is standing and drops down quite a bit. The trees in the backround are actually about 70 - 100 feet just to give you an idea for the perspective.

This is another shot of Corner Brook. The dark circle indicates from where the picture on my main page was taken.

Looking at the Arts and Culture Center, and behind it is Herdman (where I went to High School).

Here we have Corner Brook's only "skyscraper". Ten stories. It might not be much but it is all we have.

The Matthew as it was leaving Lark Harbour. This ship was part of the 500th anniversary celebration in 1997. It made the voyage from Bonivista Bay all around the island that summer. It was a pretty good time.

Looking down the entrance to Western Brook Gorge. To get to the gorge you have to walk in from the highway. There are two paths that can be taken. I think they are about 1 km, and 1.5 km. This picture was taken from 3/4's the way in the longer route. Tour boats will take you from a run through the gorge if you want a closer look at the aftermath of a glacier.

This is a shot of Gros Morne Mountain (like the one on my main page, just different angle and further out).

Now, if you are brave enough to tackle the 6 to 8 hour hike up Gros Morne Mountain, this is what you will see (the dog, and title probably won't be there, but the rest should be ;-)  ). It is worth it!

Keeping with the brave theme; here we have two brave souls out for a stroll on the beach near Western Brook in MAY!

This is a shot of the Viking site in Lance Aux Meadows. It is not really in the Park, but if you are in Gros Morne you will probably end up here.

This is the new lodge. It is pretty impressive inside as well; very open, which makes it seem smaller than it is. It is a great place to be for the Winter Carnival. The fireworks put off there always outshine the ones for Canada Day.

The lodge from the old quad lift. The other structure to the left is where they have put the ski school office, rental shop, pro shop, and day care.

Here we have some people taking in the events for the "Spring Break". I think this is the best event they put off. Skiers and snowboarders try to ski/board across the 15 m stretch of water.

Picture from MUN's web page

This is a aerial view of Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), and St. John's Harbour. I did my Honours in chemistry here. Over by the pond at center left (Burton's Pond) is where I lived. Nice place to visit, but 3 years in those little appartments with 3 other people is difficult!

This probably a little more of what people expect to see in Newfoundland. Fishing village type seen, and mountains. These pictures were taken near the harbour of the MUN picture.
