''There was nothing
really directly between Jenson and I."
British American Racing driver Jacques
Villeneuve has finally come clean about his feud with teammate
Jenson Button. The Canadian racer, preparing to compete in front of
his home fans this weekend, admitted that the only reason he said
anything nasty at all was because he was disgusted by the fuss his
BAR team was making over the new boy wonder.

When Jenson first joined
the team, boss David Richards was hailing him as the one that would
take the team to the top of the leaderboard, a future world champion
in the making.
While Jacques doesn't
dispute that Jenson has a lot of talent, the fact that he was being
labelled a w***** after already proving himself back in 1997 and
sticking by the team since its inception, made him see red.
"There was nothing
really directly between Jenson and I," he said in The Sun.
"It was more the way the team had handled things which I
thought was a little bit wrong. What created the problem was the
perception the team were pushing him up and pushing me down after I
had worked my butt off for the team for years."
"I was very happy
with Jenson being here. I was just very unhappy with it being said
'He's the future world champion and basically I'm a w*****'. If
there's going to be a future world champion here, it's going to be
me. I'd be really unhappy if it was someone else. That's one of the
reasons why I stayed with the team. I feel rows are good. We're
competing and, even if the guy is your best friend, you will walk
over him to win. It's just the way it is."
