Revolutionary Girl Utena
Genre - Romance, Comedy, and Drama.
How Many Episodes? - 39 TV episodes, I believe.
Subject Matter? - Minor violence, mostly of the swordplay type.
Background Knowledge Required? - Ah, start from the beginning.
What's It About? - From what I can tell (only having seen the first 7 episodes) the story follows Utena, a girl who wants to be just like the Prince who consoled her after her parents' death, as she toils through high school.
The difference here is that the high school has an elite student council who makes decisions by sword duels! After winning a duel, Utena suddenly finds herself engaged! And to another girl! And so begins the story...
Rating - 9 out of 10.
Why? - After watching so much gunplay, it was fun to watch swordplay for a change. Very stylish characters with a colorful atmosphere. I can see much potential in this series.
