A 1H MRS Exam

A 1H MRS exam consists of :
  1. a MRI exam in the three planes to be used as localizer (T1- and T2-weighting)
  2. the single-voxel MRS procedure comprises:
    • Choice of a spectroscopic regions of interest (ROI) from the MR images
    • Acquisition of the raw MRS signal with and without suppression of the water signal : PRESS or STEAM sequences
    • Transformation of the raw MRS signal into spectra using Fourier transformation
    • Quantitative analysis of the spectrum and calculation of the metabolite/water or metabolite/Cr ratios
  3. multivoxel MRS imaging (MRSI) data can be similarly acquired in an array of ROIs in a defined slice or volume
