    STAFF SELECTION  

    The selection of staff is an activity very important for the leaders of a company. To choose an individual in a post is a decision which entails costs of several thousand dollars. It thus becomes important to make this exercise in a most professional way by using appropriate tools. The interview of selection is often the tool the most used by the administrators to estimate the candidates. On the other hand, the interview allows with difficulty to estimate all the skills and the capacities looked to select the best candidates particularly for the appointments of supervision, often strategic for the company.

    A STANDARDIZISE TOOL

    The suggested tool compares your candidates to a group of administrators. This tool feigns about fifteen common(current) problems that we found in a company. Administrative problems, material(equipment), production, safety(security) and staff are presented. The performance of your candidates in a post of management is compared with a sample of 700 managers, selected in Quebec company. These sthe manages were evaluated as more than satisfactory by their superiors in their performance apraisal. Furthermore, these mamafgers demonstrated a good performance in their task of supervision for five years and have succeeded in an exercise of inbasket during their hiring selection. Your candidates will be compared with this sample .

    The exercise last two hours. He can be administered in group or individually. The analyzed results will inform you about their skills of management and their capacity to be made a success in a post of supervision. The evaluation will give you a result on each dimension described previously.

    No training is necessary for the administration of the exercise.

    The inbasket is a tool which can be useful for you in the selection of the staff to estimate managers.
