First basilica, 1876-1922
1876: Holy Anne is proclaimed a patron of the province
of Quebec and a fourth and vast church is opened to the cult.
1878: Redemptoristes becomes responsible for the
pilgrimage.
1887: The pope Leon XIII grants the title of basilica
to the church.
1922: On March 29, a fire destroys it.

The Basilica is the work
of the Quebecker Louis-N. Audet and of the Frenchman Maxime Roisin. It is
dedicated by the cardinal Maurice Roy, on July 4, 1976.
