Welcome! My name is Mayumi Takahashi. Together with my family we provide a unique homestay service for guests from Japan:
I will be your personal guide & interpreter, accompanying you on outings.
You will have the experience of being part of an authentic Canadian/Japanese family, in our home.
You will have your own bedroom, and have the use of a dedicated guest bathroom. We provide supplies (towels, soap, shampoo, etc.), and all meals.
Our home is located in a quiet lakeside suburb of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. You can enjoy the pleasures of both city life and country life here. Montreal is a cosmopolitan, bilingual (French & English) city with a lot to offer: style, culture, sightseeing, exciting & fun activities, museums, and great restaurants & shopping. The countryside has a lot to offer too: beautiful landscapes including colourful fall foliage, small towns, crafts, flea markets, and outdoor activities like cycling and skiing. The food here is delicious and the air and water are both fresh.
This service is ideal for Japanese visitors who may not be fluent in English or French, and for those who want to experience a homestay without a long-term commitment. For example:
Would you like to visit the Montreal area, but are tired of package tours? Stay with us and plan your own visit!
Are you studying English or French? We can provide conversation practice lessons!
Are you a student or professional who would like to try a short homestay? This is a perfect opportunity!
Are you the parent or friend of an exchange student or someone in a long-term homestay? Your stay here will be easy and stress-free.
Before you arrive, I will provide you with all the information you need to plan your trip. Together we will plan your visit to include only the activities you want, with the flexibility that a group package tour cannot provide. You can have as busy or quiet a visit as you desire. Possibilities include:
Sightseeing: Old Montreal, the Old Port, churches, Chinatown.
Shopping: boutiques, downtown shopping streets, and huge indoor malls.
Movies, film festivals, plays, concerts, Jazz Festival, fireworks, casino.
Amusement parks & water parks.
Day trips to Ottawa (the capital of Canada).
Outdoor activities: cycling, swimming, skiing, canoeing, hiking, camping, fishing, ...
Lazy days enjoying our backyard swimming pool, walking around the neighborhood, or simply relaxing.
Tell us what you would like to do!
I or my husband will meet you at the airport and bring you to our home (about 30 minutes by car), and return you to the airport at the end of your stay. I will accompany you on outings, or if you prefer to go alone, I will be happy to drive you. We will have home-cooked meals together with my family, as well as enjoying meals in restaurants.
We recommend that you stay for at least one week. It takes some time just to get over jet lag!
