RAMSAR designation : Wetlands of International Importance

The Grand Codroy Estuary earned a RAMSAR designation as a Wetlands of International Importance in 1971. This designation serves to preserve and protect the pristine habitat found in the area. The Grand Codroy Estuary serves as a major staging area as well as nesting grounds for birds of many species. The setting is unique for anyone with an interest and passion for birdwatching. Among the variety present, there is an abundance of ducks and geese, as well as flocks of Great Blue Herons to name just a few.
