Miriam's Christmas Page

Some ideas I read recently that I like:

Make gingerbread cards! Decorate trees with gaily wrapped candies.

"I was told of a tradition that I'd like to adopt into my family... In an effort to teach the children about the true meaning of Christmas each child is asked to "give up" a gift he or she was given. These gifts wo uld then be gathered and given instead to a needy family. My friend still fondly remembers this tradition and has passed it on to her own family to teach them the giving spirit of Christmas."

In the Netherlands, Santa ... makes his gift deliveries by horseback. The children leave their shoes out, filled with hay and sugar for Sinterklaas' horse. In the morning they find their shoes filled with candy and nuts. When Sinterklaas appears to the children, he takes the form of their father or a favorite male relative.
