The File "Adoption: The Right to Know"
During the year 1995, André Desaulniers analyzed all the information he had gathered for the past ten years and from that work he wrote a few texts. We will provide you with those texts in order to familiarize yourself with the problem.. You will notice that the main conclusion that can be drawn form those texts is that an adopted person should get a copy of theirs adoption record once they reach the age of majority. Our proposed Bill of Law creates a compromise between our 1995 texts and the revendications of adopted persons, adoptive parents and birth parents. This compromise is acceptable since on one hand it establishes the principle that a copy of the adoption record (the so called judicial and administrative files relative to the adoption of an adopted person) may be provided to the adopted person under certain conditions and on the other hand it establishes a clear right to privacy.
