its in love with you

lets get the sports news out of the way.

vladdy has been named the national league player of the week. a 520 batting average and 5 homers and outstanding fielding will do that for a guy. i guess he gets another watch. coil says he looks like a donkey but i'd like to see him say that to the guy's face. some big baseball manager guy said 'vlad is the most talented player in the majors' today. no doubt, tho he is a frustrating risk taker, because often the risks dont end well. its like he plays with is own rules sometimes. anyway, when they pay off its big. the way he walks to the plate...this huge guy rambling up there with his bat slung over his shoulder....almost in slow motion...you can almost feel sweat bead on the pitcher's forehead. its beautiful. its baseball poetry in motion. and then he waves the bat in the air...its totally menacing. go see the expos when they come to town. he's worth the ticket price.

and then the canadiens. eliminating the boston bruins tonight. go habs! and its mostly because of jose theodore, the amazing goalie who is a magician in nets. and ladies, i know you think you could give a shit about him...but im thinking one glance at this might have you tuning in to the next game. because when he takes off his mask and is all stubbly and sweaty and his hair is wet and he is grinning....uhh, wait i was talking about athleticism, right. girls, this is some good athleticism.

will gave me an amazing pearl jam idea...my first one since parting ways > driftin. the new one came about like this:

will: so is it still cold there?
oshuns2: yep
oshuns2: but the snow is melting
will: lil darling, here comes the sun
will: it feels like years since its been here
oshuns2: its all right
will: that would be a good encore song
will: its not obscure or anything, but its so dang good
oshuns2: oh yeah
oshuns2: ed's vocal on that could be beautiful
oshuns2: it would even be nice as a tag on around the bend
will: matt's drumming
oshuns2: theres a sun around the bend...sun sun sun here it comes
oshuns2: wowowowow
will: yeah, that's *exactly* the part I was thinking of
will: heck, stone could sing backup for it

dear pearl jam: MAKE IT SO!!!!!! fuck, where do i apply for my job as pj cover song idea girl?

hi war. site looks gorgeous. no big surprise there. great to talk to you. warren always makes me laugh by making fun of my laugh. total goon. he called just as i was reminiscing about being a little girl...there was a disney commercial on and it led me to think about how my dad picked me up and carried me over to the big bad wolf, who i was terrified of. theres a picture of me as the disney parade went by with my hands over my eyes because he was walking in front of me. anyway my dad carried me over to him, purely im sure as entertainment for himself because i remember him laughing at me (not meanly, just my dad's laugh) and i was NOT enjoying it. and it made me all emotional because i wish life was still like that. are you all like that too? or are people my age supposed to be raising their own kids instead of weaving through memory lane? the wonder years. the golden years.

so its now my day off. work was short and sweet and then i came home and putzed around online a bit, watched tv a bit, and did some yoga. then watched more tv and now am back putzing online. tomorrow is the big day off. got some stuff to send in the mail, and must hit the bank with most sweet deposit. i love depositing. yay. have about 30 pounds in change to drag down there though. not so enjoyable.

this was my first yoga in a long time and it felt good to stretch the body out again. i definitely could feel where ive tightened up, and its in lots of places. ive gotta work the yoga back in to the schedule. maybe pick up a second videotape just to keep it interesting. i wonder if i could get dad doing yoga. hahahaha now thats a picture. but i do have him eating veggie burgers, so you never know.

mr lee first baseman for the expos stevens came in again today, but i didnt serve him this time. i mean, i still chatted with him lots, and made him laugh twice (yay) and brought him his food, but he was another waiter's table. i told him his song should be pearl jam, and he said 'yeah, that would be good....but if i picked something that was really me it would be country' and i must have made a face that was all scowly and nose scrunched up like because he said 'and thats exactly why i dont'. hehehehe. even country fans know country sucks. hahahahaha. then we talked about mexican restaurants in montreal. i was still all fluttery while talking to him, but less so this time. i think its best to not talk about baseball with these guys...but its very hard to control myself. anyway it was fun to see him. now theyre off to houston.

i wish i had a scanner. maybe i should score me one. think i should?

so my awesome new shower curtain with the pockets....i really do love it, but it has a major drawback: the weight of it with stuff in the pockets is pulling the age old screws out of the ceiling that hold the bar that holds the curtain up. this is not good. i need me someone who can work the drill. if i even pick it up im bound to lose an eye. bob vila, martha...i needs ya.

a band called 'jazzberry ram' is on mike bullard right now. do we like that name? i think so. they sound very much like arrested development on this track. whatever happened to them?

i missed the d on kilborn friday. mothertrucker. hot damn im disappointed. but anita talked me through a performance they did on mad tv on the phone earlier and i was cracking up just imagining it.

anita and i also discussed the new series of gap ads. 3 ads by 3 well known directors. all black and white, all filmed as one take edit free, all 50's-60's throwback thematics. ford coppola's son, and its folks on bikes, including ashton kutcher, tho i totally didnt notice him when i saw it. then the COEN BROTHERS awesome one
with dennis hopper and christina ricci by the pool and another...with a crowd of folks playfully chasing a supposed 60s rocker...filmed by cameron crowe. cameron crowe, a man who makes movies i LOVE. a man who loves bands i love. arrrghhhhh. what do you do when artists you love and respect do commercials. i mean, the ads-beautiful...but still an ads. again the line between creativity and art blurs with commericalism and consumerism. culture meets couture and back again. people will say 'ach, lighten up, its just an ad, its just fun'....but i get the feeling these people will look up at the sky and see a nike logo on a fucking cloud and think 'wow, cool'. *sigh*. selfexpression for the sake of sales for someone else's pocket instead of one's own. is there a difference? does it matter?

i would be shocked to see pearl jam or neil or ani in a commercial for anything. am i naive? i mean...cameron crowe. i was totally surprised. but i loved his ad. does it make me a hypocrite? does it make him a sell out? should his movies mean less to me? should he mean less to me? why cant i just be that girl scared of the big bad wolf again??!! this stuff is complicated, yo.

anyway...this active brain is brought to you by tonight's sponsor: diet pepsi. and look, like the gap ads my site is black and white. im so hip. i am definitely caffeinated.

and im done for tonight.

--don't let me hear you say life's taking you nowhere, angel--
