ive been a bad, bad girl. how is it even possible that ten days have passed since my last entry? i didnt realize i was so busy, but i guess i was. so much so that i havent even been to the gym in a week. horrors! it does ease my gilt that they were actually closed two of those 7 days. but still. time wasnt on my side. and i cant even really tell you what i done.
xmas eve i hung out with anita and j and it was like old times which means it was good times. we watched fever pitch, a movie about nick hornby's foist book about a dude obsessed with soccer and his lady (aka anita and j), and laughed our asses off at some of the poorest translation this side of earth. maybe j will be a sport and actually post it to his journal and i can link you up. i havent laughed that hard, while trying to read it out loud, in ages. it was the sticker on the bottom of a box of candy that travelled here from china. you cannot even imagine. anita and j....i love you guys. i'll be over again soon. =)
anita gave me some of her deadly home made caramels which miraculously i didnt eat all in one sitting like i did last year. in fact, i still have some left. check out the fresh will power. j gave me condoms. that marcy playground song comes to mind.
during xmas eve day i went shopping with vannesser, aka v, aka vanny o sparks...my survivor compadre from the workplace. we picked up anita's xmas gift, a great
monkey pillow (im pretty sure thats the one, but hell i paid just slightly less than that. what the fuck!?)...and she helped me score a new winter coat. i love the one i got, and it was a steal, but its way short. can i find it online? no. but its blue and ski jackety but not puffy and has wool at the wrists and collar, so it acts as a built in scarf when i zip it up all the way. its good, and v spotted it first. handy little shopper she is.
what zelse. me, vanny o and alex from work checked out a new bingo hall. its totally pro and i cant wait to get ak&j over there. its in an old theater and though we didnt win, it was a fun night. alex was a little slow on the draw which was nervewracking, but vanessa was a natural. sucks that she's leaving for ireland for 6 months in about two weeks, big time. not only will work be wayyyy more boring without her, but i consider her a real friend outside of work, and those friendships are rare and not easy to develop. damn the youth and their yen to travel. but then again the trip is what sparked me to dub her vanny o sparks, which is of course a wicked nickname, so i guess its not all evil.
tim arrives tomorrow. my apartment is looking good. should be a fun break from work and a good time playing tourist in my own city. gonna hit the museums i hope, and do some ice skating and such. havent been able to tell either of my parents that he will be here for 4 days though. i just cant bring myself to tell them how i know him...its too dirty. =)
speaking of parentals, today is mom's birthday. the 23rd would have been their anniversary, and i acknowledged that, but it didnt carry any sadness this year, for real. i didnt focus on it or anything. the fact that it was eddie's birthday was far more in the forefront of the mind.
i saw the pianist. adrien brody is a great actor, but the movie does feel a bit long. also, ive seen alot of holocaust movies it seems, so alot of the imagery feels familiar, not that you ever get used to it. the most moving scene to me was when the guards humiliated some jews by making them dance, to no music....it made me cry....it never stops being disgusting and horrible. ever. my dad says this is why israel fights. because it can never happen again. i didnt have anything to say back to that.
we also saw gangs of new york. scorcese pulls it off...it amazed me. my dad kept saying 'what a crazy picture!' daniel day lewis was captivating. he just sucked up all the attention whenever he was on the screen. there's something in his eyes, and he played his character to the hilt. awesome. cameron diaz was surprisingly good in this too...i think the last thing i saw her in was vanilla sky...and come to think of it she was really good in that, too. she seems like shed be fun to be friends with aka she's one of the few actresses out there that i dont feel the urge to slap at least once in their careers. leo's part was kind of the least rich in the movie, and so he wasnt really given the occasion to shine...i thought he was good but it didnt seem too challenging. then again, what do i know. the three hours went by in a flash. huge movie, what a crazy world.
i also saw frailty. cool and original story but it has a HUGE fucking loophole in it that makes no sense and isnt really addressed and if i focus on it it can ruin the whole movie. if youve seen this movie, email me so we can discuss.
i also saw spiderman. tobey maguire could melt butter in a freezer just by looking at it blankly. and so, i liked it.
ive been listening to busted stuff by the dmb alot lately. i really like it alot. mucho mucho. and not just the three songs i originally dug anymore. all of it. fucking great hooks in them tunes.
and really...thats all i got. my bubby turned 90 on christmas day and i spoke to her for a bit and when we were hanging up she said 'and i hope everybody will love you and that you have all good things' and it was so my grandmother. even in the state she is in she is still the most adoring woman. sometimes she'll tell me like it is too, like 'your hair...fix it' (the stroke has added to the bluntness) and even that is annoyingly endearing (and annoying). but she is one of the nicest ladies this world has ever seen. even my dad says so, and how many guys say that about their mother in laws, let alone former mother in laws? mothers in law? i dont know and you know what i mean.
and that is that is that. ive been up since 4:50 and im taking my ass to the couch.
now kirk, you can get off my case. =)
if i dont see y'all before the clock ticks midnight, happy new year.
two thousand and three, please be good to we.
