"ROADSIDE ODDITIES"

Guess what, more pictures to come real soon.  I promise.
Bob and I travel a great deal in the Maritime Provinces of Eastern Canada. Being that I do not drive, I have a chance to see many strange yet wonderful things along the highway. Below is just a small sampling of these "Roadside Oddities". All the following pictures were taken in New Brunswick in the fall of 1996. As we gather more, they will be added. Unfortunately the summer of '97 was not too productive because we had so much rain, it was not conducive to picture-taking, but maybe next trip!
Well this is the summer of '98 and now I have a couple more to add.  A silver fox, an apple and maybe one more! So keep an eye out.

Well summer is coming, so maybe, just maybe I will be able to find some more. All we can do is wish, so please folks, say a little prayer that I find more!! *s*

This was taken in just outside Penobsquis, NB on the Route 114 (the new TransCanada Highway is stilled called Route 2 and runs parallel to Route 114)  just east of Sussex, NB standing just outside a restaurant specializing in Blueberries. Great blueberries in this area of the province.

This fellow stands out in front of the Timberland Motel also in Penobsquis, NB inviting all travellers in for a wonderful home-cooked meal.

This little guy lives next door to the Timberland Motel (see above) in a place called Animal Land .He is an invitation into a very unique "Animal" land. All the animals within are the same as him!!

Just off the TransCanada Highway Route 2, heading towards Saint John, you are heading into dairy country. These cows mark the beginning of the area. It seems though that they have been temporarily moved because of construction of the new Highway.

This Silver Fox stands outside the Irving Oil Big Stop in Salsbury, NB located on Highway 2 heading west of Moncton.  It is a great truck stop and has a big gift show and wonderful facilities for the truck drivers. Everywhere you go in the Maritimes you will find Irving Stations with resturuants that have good food at reasonable prices.

This giant chicken was found in Riverglade, a little suburb of Shediac NB (on the north shore of New Brunswick, not far from Nova Scotia) Now I can only assume that the restaurant it stood out in front of specialized in chicken as it was not opened when we were there!

If you have ever been to New Brunswick, you will know that Shediac is the home to great lobster and this proves the point - the "World Largest Lobster"

This was taken in just east of Fredericton, NB on the TransCanada Highway Route 2 in front of a Farmer's Market. Potatoes are a big industry in this part of New Brunswick!

This was taken in rural Quebec.  This is located in Rougemont,Quebec route 116 south of Montreal.  Apples are big industry in Quebec, as well as the Maritimes.

If anyone has any "ROADSIDE ODDITIES" they would like to see on my homepage, please forward the picture with a detailed description of what it is and where it is to my e-mail address (cmcurran@usa.net ). I will create an additional page for other people's contributions. Space is limited, so please do not send anything too large and BTW nothing lewd, rude or crude please. Everyone have a really nice day !!
