I did not install the frets before
attaching the fingerboard as indicated in the assembly instructions. Because
the pressure exerted by the fret’s tang in the notch could unnecessarily distort
the fingerboard. For gluing the fingerboard to the neck, I made a clamping
caul from 1/2” (1,27 cm) plywood. I shaped the caul to have a taper matching
the fingerboard. Moreover, on the side of the caul facing the fingerboard
and on both edge of it, I glued two strips measuring 1/8” X 1/4” (3,175 X
6,35 mm). The strips allow the clamping caul to exert a uniform pressure on
the curved fingerboard during joining.
