Channeling Guitar's Back & Soundboard

The body bindings don’t play any role in the structure of the guitar. They are used to enhance the look of the guitar in addition to hiding the joints between the kerfed lining, the soundboard and the back of the guitar. First of all, it is necessary to make channels to allow the installation of the body bindings. It is very important to use an edging router (i.e. a router equipped with a ball bearing guide). The side adjustment of the ball bearing guide as well as the depth of field of the router must be adjusted according to the width and the height of bindings. The router I used is a Dewalt DW670. For this kind of work, I believe that the ideal tool is a rotary tool like a Dremel with the adjustable guide #5248 of Stewart MacDonald. I believe that the #5248 guide of Stewmac is more suitable to make the channels on the curved guitar back. Don’t forget that the guitar back is curved while the soundboard is flat.
