Recorded at the Bottom Line, New York on 7/12/89. 18 tracks on 2 CDs. Jack Bruce (Vocals, Bass, Harmonica)/Gary Cooper (Vocals, Percussion)/ Malcolm Bruce (Guitar)/Blues Saraceno (Guitar)/ Tom Goss (Drums - 1st 9 songs)/Ginger Baker (Drums - 2nd 9 songs)/ Bernie Worrel (Keyboards) Life On Earth/No Surrender/Make Love/Born Under a Bad Sign/ Blues You Can't Lose/Theme For an Imaginary Western/Guitar Solo/ Keep It Down/Grease The Wheels/NSU/Obsession/White Room/ Rollin' and Tumblin'/Toad/Sittin' On Top of the World/Politician/ Sunshine of Your Love/Spoonful
Although Eric doesn't play on this CD it *does* feature two of the previous members of Cream so I thought it's inclusion in this list was justified.

Eric Clapton recorded a BBC session a few days after joining the
Bluesbreakers, on 26 April 1965, that included the first three titles
listed above. The bootleg "Beano's Boys" includes several of the same
tracks as this CD, including these same three tracks (same performances,
but probably recorded from radio on "Beano's Boys"). In any case, these
three tracks are of better sound quality on "Crocodile Walk"/"Bulldogs For
Sale." "Crawling Up A Hill," on "Beano's Boys," begins with a
BBC
announcer: "This was recorded on the 24th of the ... fourth, beg your
pardon, the 26th of the fourth, in 1965. And to the best of our knowledge,
according to all the records we can dig out, of the BBC archives, it does
feature the guitar work of Mr. Eric Clapton. Here is John Mayall."
Jack Bruce was a member of Mayall's band for about six weeks, from October
or November until December 1965, when he joined Manfred Mann. A BBC
session, probably with Jeff Kribett (on loan from Dr. K's Blues Band) on
guitar and Jack Bruce on bass (both tracks on the "Crocodile Walk"/"Bulldogs
For Sale"
CDs), took place during October or November 1965, before Clapton's return to Mayall's band.
I'm Your Witchdoctor

A BBC session on 19 March 1966 included the following tracks:
On Top Of The World
Key To Love
Hideaway
Little Girl
Tears In My Eyes
Parchman Farm
Steppin' Out
Hideaway (alternate take)

(P.W.) There seems to be a manufacturing error on some (possibly all?) of the second CDs (as compared to "Real Cream") that has caused the entire second disc to have a "buzz" or "static" running through it. The noise starts off quite quietly but grows until by about 30 mins. into the disc when it is almost as loud as the source material. Does anyone have a copy without this distortion???? (J.W. / R.B.) Eric Clapton recorded a BBC session a few days after joining the
Bluesbreakers, on 26 April 1965, that included the first three titles
listed above.

Key To Love
Hideaway

tour took place with Mayall's 4-piece band [John Mayall: keyboards,
harmonica, guitar, vocals; Mick Taylor: guitar; Keith Tillman: bass. Colin

track must have been recorded in (late 1967 or) 1968 with the Crusade or
Bare Wires-era Bluesbreakers, which had horns, or by a later, 1970s Mayall
band. The first guitar solo may well have been played by Mayall himself,
then Mick Taylor, probably, plays another simple and quiet solo.

Although this CD is named after the two supposed venues, it is almost certain
that at least half of the music on this CD does not come from the named
source. Be warned!
This information was submitted recently:
"I knew the perpetrators of this particular cd. They pressed 1000 discs,
and prepared some nice artwork, but never really listened to the tape.
They played one of the discs for me and I thought it sounded a lot like
the two officially released live Cream lps ("Live Cream" & "Live Cream
Vol. 2") "Sitting On Top Of The World" and "I'm So Glad"
sounded like the
same versions found on "Goodbye". I mentioned this to them and we
compared the albums to the cds and lo and behold, the material was
identical. . . ."
"Basically, this disc is a pirate. The only difference between this
release and the official product is that the pirate runs at the incorrect
speed."

Given the difference in CD lengths, I'd guess that this is a not a reissue of "Farewell Tour - Searching In Dallas 1968" - Original Precious Masters - OPM-001/2 - sb5". I haven't heard that one, but if it's from the same recording somewhere down the line, I can see where someone would give it a sb5 rating - it really is an excellent audience recording, especially given the time period. The giveaway is some clapping, etc. near the taper in "toad". (M.D.)

Toad is faded out after 1:13
The following was sent by a Cream fan:
The date on the back of the cover reads August ??, 1968 (tiny psychedelic
font that is impossible to read), but this date ain't right...
All the tracks are audience tapes which appear to come from San Franciso
(at the Fillmore Auditorium or Winterland) in March, 1968;
1. Sunshine Of Your Love (unreleased version)
2. NSU ("Live Cream" version)
3. Steppin' Out (unreleased version)
4. Traintime (unreleased version)
5. Toad intro (unreleased version)
(the full length performance of this version of "Toad" does exist)
6. Tales Of Brave Ulysses ("Live Cream Vol.2" version)
7. Spoonful ("Wheels Of Fire" version)
8. Crossroads ("Wheels Of Fire" version) (Yes, this version, AGAIN...)
9. We're Going Wrong (unreleased version)
10. Sweet Wine ("Live Cream" version)
All these tracks are from audience tapes, which seems a shame
when at least half of this bootleg has been released on high quality
official recordings. Also, the CD plays more than a whole-tone sharp. (J.W. / R.B.)

The first track is a Mayall session with Peter Green on guitar (actual title 'Mayfair Blues') and the second track is a Mayall session with Mick Taylor on guitar (actual title 'Snowy Wood')." (G.W.) Recorded at the Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco on either 3 or 7/3/68. 8 tracks on 1 CD. Total Time : 62:19 EC/Jack Bruce (Bass)/Ginger Baker (Drums) Crossroads/White Room/Deserted Cities of the Heart/Tales of Brave Ulysses/ Politician/Sunshine of Your Love/Spoonful/Steppin' Out The "Crossroads" on this CD is the same as the one that features on "Wheels Of Fire", hence the date. (J.M.) I've been told that it is likely that the entire contents of this CD are pirated from Wheels of Fire - Live, and Live Cream. "Crossroads" is the most obvious, with the tell-tale "Eric Clapton, Please" "Kerfoffle" at the end. (R.B.) See also:

Recorded at an unknown venue sometime in 1968. 4 tracks on 1 EP. EC/Jack Bruce (Bass)/Ginger Baker (Drums) Steppin' Out/Big Black Woman Blues/Lawdy Mama/Crossroads Top of the Milk EP was on light blue flexidisc with cartoon cover. The quality was "muffled audience" and there was no indication on the cover of where it was from. (J.O.)"Trinity" - Mid Valley - MID VALLEY 067 - sb3
Tales Of Brave Ulysses/ World Of Pain/ Outside Woman Blues/ Dance The Night Away/ Sleepy Time Time/ Sweet Wine/ Rollin' And Tumblin'[fades out at 4:07]/ NSU(a part of improvisation)[i.e. start and finish missing - only 1:10]
This is either a distant sounding line recording or a remarkably audience-free audience recording. (P.W. / R.B.)
