Stephen Barry

Stephen has been doing the Montreal (and Quebec) Blues scene for over twenty years. He was born and raised in Lachine (a suburb of Montreal). The Stephen Barry band has performed on almost every blues stage in Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes. In November 1995 the band has released its fourth album "Happy Man" and sold almost 5,000 copies in six months. By the time of our interview the band had received two Jazz Report Magazine (Toronto) awards: "Album of the Year" and "Blues group of the Year". Their repertory includes blues and folk-blues music. Their "Blues Anthology" show chronologically traces the history of this musical form from its acoustic beginnings at the turn of the century through its electrification in the 40s and 50's.
