This site has been developed to allow you to hear and discover various
musics accompanying the advertisings aired "via" radiophonic or telivisual waves.
These musical "jingles" convey contemporary feelings of our society
and were created to illustrate a "beautiful way" these messages.
Nowaday's sponsors are various groups concerned by public advertising, be it traders,
touristic associations, etc, thus replacing the kings and popes who, not so long ago,
ordered to an artist or musician an artwork in honor of their own power
and glory...The wheel of time spinned in vain; the roles are the same ones:
only the names change.
Le Terroir opened its gates in 1983. After having been interested in the realisation of records
during a few years, a combination of circumstances brought a repositionning of the studio towards
the realisation of original music for advertising. In 1985, a marketing agency specialised in the
top-of-the-range crenel made its appearance and sough for a studio offering the double service of recording
and composition. This opportunity presented an original and interesting challenge.
Between 250 and 300 original advertising musics were created since, without counting
the various versions or variations, the musics for video, theatre, etc.
With time and professionnal evolution, the development of advertising projects
became significantly more and more complex. The productions have to adapt to new
needs increasingly specialised, like the creation or design of new sounds, the post-synchronisation of
these elements on video and the integration of disparate elements to make a balanced
and coherent result. The Terroir productions were associated with televisual advertisings
that won 62 Canadian prizes, one of them being the GOLDEN PRIZE all categories in 1994
and SILVER PRIZE in 1993 at the Canadian Office of Television (TVB).
Each production "devours" between 10 and 15 hours for each 30 seconds and requires a lot of
originality and flexibility. It sometimes happens to create music jingles for 3 competitors!
One cannot allow redondancies...It also is a misunderstood musical activity, thus enlightening
the utility of this site. I will try to make you appreciate the secret sides of this fascinating job
by briefly commenting each jingle. For a better sound appreciation, most of the voices
were removed.
The audio jingles you can hear on this site are compressed in RealAudio format and thus require
the use of the RealPlayer utility to reproduce them. Being a very popular "format" over the internet
(RadioCanada FM en direct), it is quite sure you'll
only have to click on the little speaker
to hear them. If the RealAudio player doesn't automatically appear, you'll have to download it by clicking on
Free RealPlayer G2. Older versions of Realplayer will warn you it is not a Realaudio
format. Just upgrade to enjoy this site and the internet! Version G2 replaces version 5.0 and is fully
compatible with this site.
