art for activism. activism for art.
Artivistic is a multidisciplinary event devoted to the exploration of the interplay between art,
information and activism. This event, one of the first of its kind at McGill University, was initiated
and is organised by mainly McGill students from diverse backgrounds, but is also enriched by the creative input of
non McGill affiliated student talent. The principal aim of Artivistic is to celebrate the importance of
connection and the interdisciplinary nature of various instruments of social change.
We also believe that
there exists a diversity of ways to learn and that university grounds should provide a platform for all of
them.
Therefore, the event, which will span over March 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2004 on the McGill campus, will
come into form with the contribution of all and each of these elements, which will constitute the basis
of the discussion of art, information, and activism: lectures and round table discussions, film screenings,
an art exhibition, performances, and live music. We believe that links should be recognised, restated,
and reinforced between the latter in order to enhance the experience of learning and promote the values
of collaboration and multidisciplinary creation and dialogue.
Accordingly, a great diversity of participants
is welcome to partake in this event either as artists and moderators or as part of an active public.
Artivistic is an event that aims to foster inter-university collaboration and open itself up to the wider
Montreal community for the benefit of idea enrichment. Participants can range from professors to students of
all kinds, and from professionals to "in-betweens" of all kinds.
Artivistic invites you to indulge into
this idealistic social experiment.
