SPY's CORNERS

Oulton Park, Truxton, Snetterton, Knockhill, Croft are unfamiliar
names to you ? How about Brands Hatch, Silverstone or Donington Park?
if you know F1 for some time you know definitely Silverstone and maybe Donington
but for the rest of us these names are no-mans land, unless you live in the UK or know
BTCC. These are tracks in UK used by different racing car series including the popular
British Touring Car Championship. For me these tracks were unknown until I bought
TOCA which is a pure fun and challenging racing game, I would say the driving modeling
is in the simulation genre. And some of those who claims it's "the best racing sim",
need to go back to do there homeworks and back to the drawing boards
(those who feel targeted doesn't know what I'm talking about...)

Some of the aspect was less desirable, including the graphics, compared to F1RS/MGPRS2
NFS3 or GPL, it was not the nec-plus-ultra. But the fun was pure... GPL at the present time
stands on top in various aspect racing sim gaming. Driving modeling is in a class of it's
own, graphics and presentation is again ahead of all, replays are the way all the rest should
try to imitate...

In a few weeks (claimed by Codemasters ; end of February) TOCA 2 will hit the market.
And I'll be one of them to buy it. The name of the game is FUN, and driving these 300 BHP
modified touring cars are something that's closer to the real thing (unless you have a F1 in
the garage). GPL is fun only when you start to master the car, and it takes full commitment
to do laps after laps. I'm not a NASCAR series fan, due to the oval tracks, but racing, head
to head and finishing a race with a less than showroom paint job is really something to try

Here's few screen shots, for those who've seen TOCA (1), you'll notice great improvement
in this area...Having VOODOO 2 or RIVA/TNT cards are a must, needless to say...

Here's what Codemasters is announcing as previews
Please note the announcement was for the Playstation

TOCA2 demo is out click here Driving a Van Diemen Formula Ford is pure fun,
and I like the car modeling, it's not as "heavy as GPL" but definitely a strong contender
And is far beyond of what Ubisoft "sim" have done... Well done Codemaster !

The graphics are simply superb, I'm running this in 800x 600 with my RIVA/TNT and it's
much better than the first version, with the demo you'll discover a fabulous circuit: Croft
Have fun!

Don't judge this game before it hits the PC market, based on the
assumption that the PLAYSTATION version was out
