AGORA is a data base software program that runs on the Internet or an Intranet. Agora promotes development of web pages for informational and learning purposes without programming or knowledge of HTML In addition, it facilitates the distribution of and access to these documents to a large audience for minimum cost. It also includes a forum function. Users of the data base have access to material and information for teaching and learning, and can add their own pages to the data base.
Agora is document sharing on the Internet or on an Intranet.

It is ideal for faculty that is not inclined toward web development but would like the ability to post information and lessons on the web effortlessly.

Cantare

Cantare is a software program designed to promote language learning through songs. The program allows teachers to build lessons for language learning around songs on a compact disc. Students can listen to a song from a compact disc, read the lyrics on screen and access a dictionary and notes.

To create a lesson, teachers:

1) choose a compact disc and create a file for the selected songs;
2) type the lyrics of the selected songs and write notes to accompany each of the songs;
3) select the words or expressions to include in the dictionary;
4) set the time code to synchronize the text of the lyrics with the song on the compact disc.

The student module allows students to open a lesson the teacher has prepared. Students select a song on the compact disc and can:

1) listen to the song and follow the words on the screen;
2) click on a line to hear it;
3) access the words and expressions in the dictionary;
4) access notes related to the song;
5) listen to the song without the lyrics.

Cantare allows you to display the program interface in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Di@logos

Di@logos is software for language learning through the use of dictations. Users can develop dictations for the Internet without any need for programming or knowledge of HTML. Dictations can be developed using sound or video files. Graphics can also be added. Di@logos allows students to do and correct the dictations on the Internet or on an Intranet. Di@logos generates all the files that are required for the lesson. These files must be installed on a server and accessed with a web browser.

EVE

English Verb Exercises

Use EVE (English Verb Exercises) to learn the structure of the English verb through different exercise types. Practice regular and irregular verbs, the interrogative form, the conditional, the subjunctive, auxiliary verbs and modal verbs.

EVE is an application of GEMM. It comprises five types of exercises, at three levels of difficulty. EVE can be used as a classification, evaluation, review and remedial help tool. The program also features on-line grammatical help and a bank of clues related to common mistakes. First, students take a classification test and then choose the exercises they will do. Students can ask for help and hints at any time or ask for the correct answer. The program provides users with feedback on their mistakes. Students can ask to take a new test to better gauge their progress. They can save and print the results.

Based on a pretest-posttest design, EVE aims to help students master the different forms of English verbs: regular and irregular verbs, the interrogative form, the irregular forms of the past tense, the conditional, the subjunctive, auxiliary verbs and the modal verbs.

LaRC

Language and Reading Companion (LaRC) is a software program that allows you to learn English by reading and listening to stories written for English speakers. It is divided into four sections: the Reader, the Glossary, the Workbook and the Logbook. Besides reading and listening to stories, you can do comprehension questions as well as a variety of language study activities. With the various options available, you will learn and practice new vocabulary, check your comprehension and practice listening and writing.

Students can open a file of their work and:

1. listen to the story and follow the words on the screen;
2. click on a word to get the definition and hear the pronunciation;
3. watch a series of video clips about the author;
4. complete a variety of comprehension exercises;
5. do a variety of language study exercises;
6. save and print a record of their work.

Netquiz 1.5

With Netquiz you can develop exercises or formative tests on the Internet without programming or knowledge of HTML. It is possible to create Web questionnaires with five different types of questions: Matching, Multiple-choice, Fill-in-the-blank, List Ordering and True or False. You can also insert images, audio files and video sequences in each of the questions. A quiz can contain up to 100 questions.
